The Gutenburg Bible / Printing Press

The Printing Press

In about A.D.1440 Johannes Gutenberg developed a printing press. The printing press used carved letters that could be moved around to form words and then could be used again and again. This wonderful invention made the production of books was greater. The printing press was like a cheeta compared to a tortis. The cheeta being the printing press and the tortis being the monk writing it by hand. The printing press came at the perfect time when people were wanting to learn how to read and write.

There were 165 copies printed on paper and there were only 53 copies printed on parchment. Now it 1999 only 48 copys of the Bible and known to have survived.

Gutenberg Rules
I beleive that Johann Gutenberg was very cool. He was so cool because is name Johann. He was also a great inventer I mean come on he invented the printing press. I also think that without him we would not be in the infomation age. We would probley have gone back to feudalism and I would be a serf. So I am very thankful for him and I hope I can be as important as him
